A real fire...the title wasn't a metaphor. I actually started a fire in my kitchen yesterday.
I can't believe how forgetful i've become. Yesterday I had some scented oil on my stove and I forgot that I had the burner on under it. I went outside with my family to swim and it wasn't until I heard the fire alarm that I had any idea of what I had done. Actually, It wasn't even until I looked in the kitchen that I remembered that I had left the stove on!!
The funny part was the reaction of my sisters, brother, brother-in-law and I. It was like a scene from a sitcom. All of us running around...looking for the fire extinguisher. Then when they realized how upset I was they were all worried I was going into labor...
As it turned out the fire extinguisher was empty!! Not that I knew how to use it.
I guess i'm gonna learn how...after I buy a full one that it.
My brother-in-law was able to take the pot outside and we were lucky that the fire hadn't really caught on my microwave, walls and cabinets. Once the pot was removed the fire went with it.
I couldn't believe the damage. I had spent the morning cleaning and doing laundry. The house was perfect. I was really nesting...The house was in such good condition that I could've had the baby yesterday, I was that much at peace. Until the fire messed it up. sheesh!!
When my husband got home I told Him, "remember...you love me and i'm carrying your child.". He took it very well and reminded me that the "stuff" on this earth will all eventually burn and it really doesn't mean anything. I was happy he took it well. We've had quite a few catastrophies that have cost us quite a bit of money in a short time period.
The Lord is faithful. NO one was hurt and He will provide!!
God Bless,
Laura

Oh, Laura. I'm so sorry about the fire! What a good honey you have. I'm glad he was so sweet with you.
OH NO! I didn't really read this until now! I did that once except it was toast in the toaster that caught on fire. My husband said the same thing. Aren't they so amazing? It makes you think/..... why can't I be that forgiving? But I think as women, we weren't meant to think that way! haha. Well, I'm glad everyone was ok and your due date is our anniversary. KEEP US ALL POSTED! God Bless
